SYNOPSIS

Four months ago, I picked up “The Complete Works of Ralph Waldo Emerson” and read “Self Reliance.”

I’m sure I read it in school but the impact this essay had on me this time was HUGE; so much so that I’m going to do an entire series on this life-changing work of literature.

Over the next several weeks I’m going to be sharing with you my favorite quotes from “Self Reliance” and expanding on each.

We start off with the essay’s first words,

Man is his own star; and the soul that can

Render an honest and perfect man,

Commands all light, all influence, all fate;

Nothing to him fault early or too late.

Our acts our angels are or good or ill, our fatal shadows that walked by us still.

Sure, the writing is a bit archaic but the idea is profound and today we’re going to explore how to apply it to your life.

Be sure to post your questions and comments, I always reply to them personally.
